Summary
This machine’s voice is different than V1’s. It is a bit deeper and more humanlike than the programmed pitches of the other robot. His chassis is also red instead of blue, albeit his left arm is green.
“I was expecting someone else,” the robot replies. He fiddles with some wires that connect the green arm to the rest of his chassis.
“So was I,” Gabriel says.

Summary
Optimization is V1’s specialty. From projectile punching to explosion-propelled feats of acceleration, V1 was made to make itself better: faster. To achieve maximum performance, it opts to optimize its energy usage. A more efficient source of biofuel may exist—but V1 needs a means to extract it. A particular peripheral used by Mindflayers seems promising.
V1 intends to test it on Gabriel. There must be something better than blood.

David cupped Simon's face with his hand, stroking his cheek softly with his thumb.
Simon looked away, his frown twitching and eyes blinking rapidly, as if he were holding back tears.
"I love you, Simon."
His façade broke as David muttered those words, salty hot tears running down his face.
Simon tried to speak, babbling out a few sounds before giving up and falling back into David's arms.
