It has been on his mind since he first met Stede. The beginnings of it were even there when The Gentleman Pirate was nothing more than a pretty rumour floating on the sea breeze. He's been good at not noticing the thing, or at least letting it buzz away to itself in a neglected corner of his mind, but it has resurfaced with a vengeance since he found himself sleeping in a chair beside Stede's bed as he recovered from being pinned to the mast like a butterfly in a display.
The thing is this: he really, really, really fucking wants to be held.

For a moment, Ed felt as if he couldn’t breathe. The moonlight washed over Stede’s face, painting him in shadows and dancing light across his eyes. The smile he gave him was the sweetest thing Ed had ever seen, as if he didn’t realize he’d just shattered Ed’s world. A breath forced its way out of him, a sound he tried to push towards disbelief but ended firmly on the side of reverence. For so long, Ed had held himself back. He’d built unbreakable walls to keep out the danger of the night, but now for the first time, he could see the light of the morning. Stede’s eyes crinkled as he continued to smile at him, and Ed couldn’t hold himself back any longer.

I could say so much about what this show means to me and how much of a gift it has been in a very hard time but instead I wrote this fic. Set immediately after episode 10. I'm never going to be over Taika Waititi in tight leather. It’s complete bullshit. How this is supposed to be in any way helpful or beneficial to his major, Will has absolutely no idea. But he needs the credit, and the deadline is tomorrow, and yes, okay, maybe Will shouldn’t have procrastinated on this because he knows he isn’t good when it comes to finding the right words and expressing himself, but he just really, really had not wanted to do this. At all.
