The Bishop's Opening by I_Logophile
Fandoms: Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Cartoon 2018)

Summary
A single figure extracted itself from the darkness and stepped into the light.
“How kind of you to join us,” said a man in a black suit, someone Donnie only recognized from videos: Agent Bishop, head of the Earth Protection Force.
“You took our brother,” Donnie replied. “You didn’t think we were just gonna let that slide, did you?"
Though less common than the Knight’s Opening, the Bishop’s Opening is a solid first move that gives you an array of options if you’re a sharp player with a fondness for tricky games. With this opening, the player uses their first move to put their bishop in control of the center of the board.
Likewise, Agent Bishop and the Earth Protection Force have placed themselves front and center on New York City's stage, but when you keep making mistakes, the spotlight isn't always a good thing.
And kidnapping Hamato Leonardo was one massive mistake.

Summary
Already half-convinced that his tired brain had made everything up, Polites turned to make his way back.
A single sound stopped him dead in his tracks.
Polites pinched his arm. Pain flared faintly between his fingers. This wasn’t a dream.
Which meant that, somewhere in Troy, an infant was crying out.
Divine intervention changes everything.

Summary
The Invasion of New York was no laughing matter, especially not for the Earth Protection Force. What was laughable, however, was the way the EPF handled the Invasion of New York. In other words, they didn’t, so the fact that it had been stopped meant someone else did. Something else. Several somethings, in fact.
This was unacceptable, and Agent John Bishop intended to fix that.
“Sir, Vehicle 254 just reported spotting one of the creatures traveling by rooftop along 5th Avenue.”
“Do they still have eyes on it?”
“No, they lost it by West 26th Street.”
“Alert all other vehicles. If any of them catch sight of the creature, they are to report back to base, and an assault team will be released to their location. Were they able to identify which of the creatures it was?”
“I believe they said it was the one in the blue gear, sir. The one with the swords.”

Summary
“Inej- Inej, get up! Inej! Please…” Wylan trailed off, fear choking his words.
The crumpled heap on the ground didn’t twitch.
Wylan's gaze darted to the mouth of the alley. He fumbled with his pockets for something—an incendiary or maybe a flash bomb.
A large gloved hand closed around his wrist.
“Not so fast,” the man said with a loose smirk. Inej’s knives were still buried in his chest. Blood darkened the fabric around them. He had to be at least a head taller than Jesper and twice as broad, meaning he was rather gargantuan where Wylan was concerned.
Saints, he wished Jesper was here.
--
When Inej and Wylan go missing, Kaz doesn't let his concern show (but he's slipping, and it's only a matter of time before someone calls him out on it). On the other hand, Jesper doesn’t give a shit about keeping up appearances (He can’t go back to one-night stands with pretty, faceless strangers. They've never quieted the itch for the Makkers Wheel like Wylan does). They're both grasping at straws, but perhaps this is a monster they need to trust Inej and Wylan to handle on their own.

“Trust me on this," Lila said, "no matter how deeply your grief has buried you, it’s not forever. You can get out. And once you do, you’re probably going to regret a lot of the things you did while you were under.”
“And how the hell would you know?” Allison spat. “What do you understand about grief?”
Lila leveled Allison with a sharp look. “Well, when I was four, I had to hide in a closet and listen to my parents beg your brother for mercy before he splattered their brains across our living room floor, but that's not what I’m talking about.”
“Then get to the point."
“Well, as much as I despise the little wanker due to the aforementioned splattering of my parents’ brains, I think Five’s probably got us all beat when it comes to the grief department.”

Summary
After he and his siblings managed to escape the Sparrow Academy, Five ran the calculations—six times in fact—but there was no getting around it.
Jumping up and down one timeline by himself with moderate success was one thing. Jumping sideways across timelines with five other people? That was something entirely different. He was going to need help.
His own help.
--
Or, the Umbrella Academy takes a trip down to Cambridge, Massachusetts in the hopes of enlisting the help of Five's dopppelgänger. In the process, Five's siblings—not to mention Five himself—get a glimpse of who their brother might've been. -

Luther cleared his throat. “So if we’re dead, and Vanya… destroyed the city and also died in the process, why are we here?”
Everyone looked at Klaus.
He gave them a helpless shrug. “I don’t know. Unfinished business?”
“What sort of unfinished business could all of us just so happen to have?” Diego asked.
A brilliant flash of blue light cut through the haze of smoke and fire.
--
When Vanya destroyed the world, Allison expected to find herself in some sort of afterlife. Instead, she and her family found themselves in some sort of hell. And then little Number Five showed up.

Summary
In typical Five Hargreeves fashion, a drug ring bust with his family turns into a rescue mission, which turns into a complete and utter shitshow. Because, of course, things had to go sideways— No, scratch that. Things didn't just go sideways, things went upside down, backward, and inside out. And then got blown up. Literally.
In the aftermath of the whole fiasco, Five is left reeling, floundering, drowning in guilt.
Because how could he have done that?
How could he have attacked his family?

Slowly, almost reluctantly, Marc relaxed his death grip on his hair and looked up.
His face was wet.
He was crying.
Layla was taken aback, but she pushed her shock aside. Whatever had happened, the last thing Marc needed was any sort of judgement.
“He’s… He’s gone, Layla.”
--
Marc is brought back to life, but Steven is already gone. And the silence, it’s deafening. -

Summary
A plan took shape in Five’s mind.
It wasn’t one he particularly liked, and it would be unequivocally humiliating, but with the Commission coming and their powers shot to hell for the foreseeable future, Five couldn’t think of any other option.
Didn’t change the fact that he despised crying.
--
Five pretends to cry to get an enemy to lower their guard—emphasis on “pretend.”His siblings don’t catch on. After getting over their shock, they become unnecessarily distressed and proceed to flutter around Five like neurotic chickens.
Oh, and some people die, but that was kind of the plan all along.

Klaus made an offended noise. “All of you knew? Why am I always the last one to find out about the end of the world?”
“Maybe because you pay attention to jackshit but yourself,” Diego muttered.
Klaus pressed a hand to his chest, his tone growing snarky. “I don’t pay attention? I don’t pay attention? I’m sorry, no. Who else here has noticed that thing that Five’s been doing since we all arrived?”

"Ben, are you crazy?! We just watched Número Cinco go fucking apeshit on a room full of random people and—”
“What if he had a good reason for it?” Ben interrupted, crossing his arms. “What if they were bad guys or something? Ever think of that?”
Klaus scoffed. “‘Bad guys’? Really, Ben? We’re not thirteen anymore.”
“Exactly, so use your brain, moron. Why would Five just go around murdering people in the ’60s?”
“Oh, I don’t know, because he’s fucking psycho?! He’s probably all screwed up from time travel or something! Who knows what kind of shit—”
“Klaus.”
“What?”
“He can hear you.”

Or, what if the Board meeting was somewhere in Dallas, and one of Five’s siblings stumbled upon the massacre as it was taking place? -

Summary
After the Apocalypse, it had taken years for Five to sleep soundly without the smell of death and the taste of ash chasing him through his dreams. There’d been a few minor relapses when he returned to his siblings in 2019, but those were fleeting, and he hadn’t had another since.
Except, apparently, the universe—still—had it out for him because now it was happening all over again, albeit for something different this time.
Five was tempted to beat his head against the wall in front of him. Some days, he really wished he could send the universe a letter.
Dear Universe,
Fuck you too.
Sincerely,
Number Five Hargreeves.
--
At the top of the stairs, Christopher was in a state of shock. They told Five about his— Wait. No. He did not have a crush. And even if he did, he definitely didn’t anymore.
“He in denial or something?” Klaus asked.
Alphonso laughed dryly. “Yeah, you could say that.”
