Lord Wei walked over to where Lan Wangji was sitting and leaned on the back of the couch, speaking over Lan Wangji’s head, “the prospect of it could not possibly be attractive to you at all.”
Lan Wangji spoke honestly, “it’s not, but my Lord would not believe me if I just promised to come back. You could rest assured this way.”
“Really?” Lord Wei’s hand clamped gently over his neck, the touch cold but not intolerable, and tilted his head back to lean on the couch’s backrest so he could look at him, “you would do that for me?”
For some reason, Lan Wangji’s breath felt short, “it’s no trouble, my Lord.”

“You’re a long way from home, little cultivator.”
Lan Wangji was so startled he almost fell back into the pond, before a hand caught him and steadied him, “calm down now, no need to be so dramatic,” the owner of the voice laughed.
Lan Wangji cautiously stood up, he hadn’t even heard the person come so close, so he, rightly, assumed that the owner of the voice was either a cultivator on a higher realm than himself or that the other was an entity that resided in the Burial Mounds. The probability of it being the former was so low it wasn’t even a probability anymore so that only left the fact that Lan Wangji had just been caught trespassing.
Lan Wangji looked up at the owner of the voice and froze up. How ethereally mesmerizing.
“Are you perhaps…” it paused as if lamenting the ridiculousness of its question, “…lost?”
Lan Wangji was lost, but he didn’t think that the stranger meant it in that sense. He had gone so deep into the Burial Mounds of his own accord and maybe this…person could tell him a thing or two about the Burial Mounds.
“No.”
“Could I be of any help then, Pretty?”

There was another Wei Wuxian coming toward them… no…the creature disguised as Wei Wuxian, it stopped a few metres away, unfolding itself into its full height. It looked exactly like Wei Wuxian, down to the minutest detail.
Wei Wuxian’s hand slid from his lips, dragging over his cheek and chin and lingering over the skin of his neck before completely letting go of him, “kill it,” he whispered.
The moment Wei Wuxian let go of him and took a step back, Lan Wangji unsheathed his sword and charged forward, if it couldn’t see and hear very well, it wouldn’t be that hard to take down.
Before he could advance three steps, however, the thing spoke, “didn’t I say not to move?”

He will never forgive Wang Zhi for being careless enough to get himself killed like this: by a band of common thugs, barefoot and with his hair undone, in Sui Zhou's house, in front of Sui Zhou.
But then the thug manhandling Wang Zhi laughs, pulling him up short in the middle of the courtyard. He even shakes him a little. "Look what I found in Baihu Sui's bedroom. It's a boy!"
