“My… my… I was here to greet Chuuya a ‘happy birthday’ yet this is what I receive?” Dazai mutters out, trying to stand back up on his feet once more, this time with more effort at Chuuya punishing force in practically beating up the brunette. “Where’s my thank you?” He moves toward Chuuya, holding the other’s hand.
Chuuya does nothing but push the other’s hold on him, throat tightening as he says his next words with a glare at the other, “‘Thank you’, my ass, shithead!” He rolls his eyes, his continuous glare at Dazai remaining.
Dazai kept the smile on his face as the two locked gazes, not breaking the silence after Chuuya’s response to Dazai’s ever-dramatic request. And it doesn’t surprise Chuuya that Dazai was the one to break the silence after that.
“Happy birthday, mutt.” The words fell from Dazai’s mouth soft and gently, it was genuine to Chuuya’s shock. He didn’t need to read Dazai to know that this right here was Dazai not pulling tricks or anything.

“Come on, babycakes,” Ryusei goes on and stops abruptly, letting Sae run into him. A few disturbed fireflies flee from the nearby bushes and illuminate the two elves’ faces in the process. Sae looks deeply into Ryusei’s shimmering eyes and swallows dryly.
(He didn’t know his boyfriend could look even more beautiful than he already does.)
“Relax, okay?” Ryusei begins again and before Sae has the chance to retort anything, Ryusei draws circles at the back of Sae’s hand with his thumb. “Calm down,” he goes on and then the silence returns— their own, slow breaths being the only thing sounding apart from some nocturnal creatures that chirp or buzz in the far distance. “Close your eyes, munchkin,”
or: ryusei drags his boyfriend to a hidden lake he found a while ago to get sae to finally relax for once (though, that's not the only reason)
