“So. You are their newest Corporal,” Ao’nung said. He glanced down at my vest then, which had badges that indicated my name and rank. I didn’t think he could read them – how could he? Who would have taught him? I wasn’t sure, but given he was speaking English, someone had to be teaching him something.
“Ao’nung,” I said, through my teeth. “You animal. Do you have any idea how savage what you just did was?”
He smacked the side of my face, silencing me. He leaned in closer then, inches from my face, eyes smoldering.
“What I did was savage?” he seethed.

The Corporal who will one day be known as Neteyam has just been taken captive by Ao'nung, the lead warrior of the Metkayina, and the one the Na'vi refer to as Caller of the Tulkun. His mission is simple: Build rapport with his captor, earn his trust, and try to escape. But as time passes, the Corporal begins to question everything he thought he knew about the Na'vi, and who he once was - but no longer is.

Ao'nung and his family seek uturu in the forest. Jake agrees on the condition that they train for war against the sky people, and Neteyam begins training Ao'nung. Along the way, the two begin to fall for each other, but Ao'nung doesn't know that Neteyam has kept a secret from him.
He's the adopted sky person child of the Sully family, using an avatar.

After Lo'ak safely returns from being left outside of the reef, Neteyam goes for a walk on the beach and has a conversation with Ao'nung that sets him on a different path, and though he doesn't know it, saves his life.
(Basically I'm exploring the question: What character development would have needed to happen in order for Neteyam to avoid his death in the movie?)

Ao'nung and Neteyam are newly-mated, and have finally moved into their own kelku. Ao'nung sees Neteyam with his hair down for the first time, and the two of them take the opportunity to reminisce and enjoy their kelku's privacy.
(This was a scene I wrote for a different fic of mine, Reborn and Renewed. I ended up not including it, and so I'm just posting it for fun now. It contains some minor references to Reborn and Renewed, but you don't need to have read it in order to read this one.)

Summary
Neteyam wakes from a coma three months after getting shot. Ao'nung informs him that the Metkayina have agreed to join the Omatikaya in war against the sky people, and that they will be voyaging back to Neteyam's homeland. Neteyam is worried he'll be too weak to return with his family, and Ao'nung agrees to help him regain his strength and train for his own Iknimaya trial to become a warrior of the Metkayina before they leave. Along the way, both of them begin to feel something for each other they never have for anyone else. At first, they struggle to identify what that feeling is. Once they do, they worry if others will accept.

Summary
Joe abandoned Nicky right before they were supposed to get married, to chase his dream of becoming an artist. Not knowing he was missing out on his true destiny.
Through happenstance they both end up in Malta four years later. When they meet again, Joe is confronted by the fact that leaving Nicky had been the biggest mistake of his life. But he discovers that they've both hurt each other in unforgivable ways.
Can they let go of the past and give destiny a second chance?

Summary
"How long?" the man eventually asks. He's not looking at Joe, simply regarding the floor, hands clasped loosely between his thighs.
Joe scratches his nose idly. "Six years."
The man looks up and over, surprised. "You were young."
"We met when I was twenty," Joe confirms, old sadness tugging at the corner of his mouth. “We had seven together.”
Nodding, the man looks back to the floor. He's quiet for a long time, minutes possibly. And then;
"Seven months, for me," he says, very softly, and roughly. And oh, Joe's heart aches for him.
In a world where soulmates are predestined, life after love seems impossible. Joe and Nicky give it a go anyway.

Summary
Nicolò curses under his breath as he notices the tell-tale signals of his preheat approaching.
Those can be easily missed if one is not paying enough attention, but Nicolò has been hoping against hope that what happened outside the walls of Jerusalem has somehow changed things. Changed him.
Yet the cramps slowly creeping inside his belly and the tenderness on his chest are as dreadful as they are familiar. He has been dealing with those signs for half of his life and he knows it is only a matter of time before the urge also settles in, along with the wetness between his legs, followed by a fever to burn his senses until nothing good is left.
Nicolò stirs the goat stew over the fire and he wonders if the Saracen alpha will finally try to mount him this time.
After presenting as an omega, for years Nicolò was forced to lay with alpha after alpha, until fate took him to the Holy City. Since being killed and brought back to life, he has expected his alpha companion to try to bed him as well, but the man called Yusuf never dares to touch Nicolò. He is both relieved and confused about it.

Featuring misunderstandings, miscommunications, and enough pining to write an entire album about it. To collaborate on an entire album with the object of said pining, even.
