“Oh, umm,” Shuichi takes his pencil from his mouth—Kaito’s gaze lingers on his chapped lips for a moment too long—and sits up straight. “Well, it was—”
The door to the library suddenly bursts open. Kaito and Shuichi turn in unison and watch as their classmate Kokichi, trailed by Gonta, storms inside.
“Momota-chan! I have a proposition for you!” he announces, voice much too loud for the library. He’s hushed immediately by the librarian, and in return, Kokichi giggles, winking at the poor woman before he skips up to where Kaito and Shuichi are seated. “I want to organise a trade. My minion for your minion. Whaddya say?”
“A—” Kaito sputters. “A trade? What does that mean?”
Kokichi blinks. “What, were you born with a part of your brain missing?”

Shuichi shivers as another particularly biting gust of wind blows back the flap of his jacket. There’s a button missing on the bottom and while it’s never been an issue before, it’s really getting to him now. Shuichi should look into getting that fixed. Kaito could probably sew it up for him, but he’s been so busy nowadays with the space program… perhaps Shuichi could do it himself? He’s not so bad at things like that, that require hand-eye coordination, and now that he’s less scared of failure, it actually seems a bit fun, learning to sew… of course, Kaito would like to be asked, he likes doing things for other people, so Shuichi will have to take that into account, too…
As Shuichi stops at a red light, reluctantly drawing his hand from his pocket to press the signal, he gazes up at the sky. The snowflakes are small and numerous, spinning in circles overhead.

“You’re so clingy…” Shuichi comments before turning the heat off the stove and pulling away from Kokichi’s grasp. In truth, Shuichi wasn’t too sure himself. It’s not like they haven’t had sex in front of other people before, but it wasn’t the usual case this time. Doing it in front of the lower-ranking members that respect and fear him for being Kokichi’s significant other is one thing, but being watched by people that nearly parallel Kokichi’s position is terrifying. They’re basically second in command mafia bosses, and if it weren’t for the fact that Shuichi has known Kokichi for over a decade, then he sure as hell would be afraid of Kokichi too.
But they’re still Kokichi’s subordinates, Shuichi reminds himself. Kokichi is their boss, and Shuichi is sure that if they did anything that he didn’t consent to Kokichi would absolutely lose his shit. So there really wasn’t anything to worry about, right? Shuichi takes in a deep breath as Kokichi grabs the knob of the admin longue room, only accessible by Kokichi and the other high-ranking members. That includes Shuichi, but he would never walk in on a whim
in short: Kokichi brings Shuichi to a party with his subordinates. Shuichi knows that he’s feared amongst the much lower ranking subordinates, but he finds the higher ranking admins intimidating.
