Beautifully written. The characters are lifelike, very true to the original books. The plot is realistic, though not something Bujold ever wrote. No space operas here - all politics is local, and so are personal relationships. And the sheer hope that Democracy can actually work the way it's supposed to is - in 2025 - breathtaking. 💗

Thought to be impenetrable, Clint can see beyond the illusion to the danger lurking in the dark, to the hunter in the wood who threatens the lives of everyone living in the little community, leaving him to find a way to turn a predator to prey.
