Bucky was used to finding Steve in alleys. Not every day, thank baby Jesus and all the saints or he’d be as grey as Mrs Milligicutty, but often enough.
The thing about Steve in alleys was, it meant finding Steve in fights. Or finding Steve after fights, bloody and bruised, picking gravel and dirt out of his skin, having come off third best in a two-person punch-up. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, it meant finding Steve standing, bruised but unbowed, glaring down some hapless meathead who’d underestimated just how much sheer goddamned never-say-die was packed onto those skinny bones.
That was Steve in alleys. Not this hunched over sack of glare, facing down a mangy orange tom cat that was glaring right back and trying to dart past his legs.

Fantastic series. Also terrific! The first story, with Bucky the cat and Steve the mouse, has great characterization. It is hilarious and will make you LOL and start writing down pull-quotes. The second ... is not hilarious. It is warm and heart-wrenching and will put tears In your eyes. Gorgeous use of language; beautifully written. Both stories HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Now updated with Part 3, with Rumlow as an evil Pied Piper! (Well, think about it. The PP always was!) Can Bucky and Steve (and a few brave mice) thwart his nefarious plans?! Not to be missed! 🐱💞🐀

"Bucky," Steve repeated, feeling oddly touched.
"Always Brooklyn in front of the clients, though," he added seriously.
"No, of course," Steve promised. "Good to meet you."
"You too," he said, glancing down to where Steve was still holding his hand.
Steve let go with a sheepish smile. "Sorry."
Working in a brothel wasn't somewhere Steve ever expected to find himself, but then he'd never expected to quit his shitty corporate hell-job to apprentice as a tattoo artist. Great as it was, his apprenticeship didn't come with a pay cheque, so eating and keeping a roof over his head meant finding a job that paid actual money. Which was how he'd ended up as the night receptionist in a brothel, accidentally holding Bucky's hand, with no idea Bucky was going to turn out to be something else he'd never expected.

A wonderful story of Methos meeting O'Neill's clone and shaking up the universe. (As Methos does!) Excellent characterization throughout, with some brilliant insights into how they think and why they do what they do. The first story is exciting, full of action/adventure (and funny!), and well worth reading. The second story is one of the most beautiful pieces I've read - truly moving. But you need to read the first story first. Don't worry, you won't regret it if you do! RECOMMENDED!
