The thing about living in a place like Camelot was that almost all of the people there lived lives completely devoid of magic. When Merlin was actually channelling his power in a place so empty of it, every tiny bit of magic around came alive to him. So when Dragoon touched the prone body of Uther Pendragon, he pulled away almost immediately.
Because there was already magic at work upon the King of Camelot.

Arthur caught his sorcerer’s eye again. “If Emrys did have a simple, human identity, you wouldn’t have any suspicion who it could be, at all?”
“I wouldn't, I’m afraid.” Merlin shrugged one shoulder, seeming somewhat defeated. “I’ll look into it.”
Once, years ago, Arthur had been sure he could tell when Merlin was lying through his teeth. How frustrating it was to know that couldn’t be further from the truth.Or: In a fixed-it post-canon, word begins to get out about the godlike sorcerer Emrys who will aid the Once and Future King to unite all of Albion. This, of course, results in all the leaders of Albion beginning their attempts to win the elusive Emrys’ favor, in order to be chosen as his prophesied King.

Summary

Begrudgingly setting aside their hatred, they traversed through the forest stumbling upon a village. None of the villagers had ever heard of Camelot, and practiced magic freely. Thankfully, the Court Sorcerer happens to be visiting the village for business. He offers them help in figuring out what happened to them.

“Careful, Spy-san. Aren’t you getting too comfortable around a big, bad, terrible pirate?” Ace shoots back, as he watches the relaxed lines of the spy’s shoulders. The blond easily falls into step with Ace following him inside the ship to raid the galley, his weapon resting harmlessly on his back.
“We are both stuck on this ship until we make it to land,” Sabo points out. “Besides, I already told you. I could take you on with my pink finger.”
Ace sticks his tongue out. “I bet even Luffy could take you on, and he is a weak crybaby.”
That elicits a laugh from not-Sabo, and it has Ace reeling with delight. And oh, he is a little fucked, isn’t he? Even if this stranger is not Sabo, even if it is just his face and his actions and his stupid propensity to get under Ace’s skin, Ace could never raise a weapon against him and actually intend to kill.
It’s not Spy-san, but rather he who has gotten too comfortable.

Ace and Sabo meet before Marineford. It doesn’t change much.

If that wasn’t enough, it turns out the “unoccupied” island was actually home to the Shichibukai Dracule “Hawkeye” Mihawk. Returning from war hoping for respite and quiet, he instead finds two unruly pirates fully moved in. Too tired from the events of the war, and frankly too disinterested to bother even kicking them out, he begrudgingly lets them stay.
Two years is a long time to be stuck on an island together and even for the most strong headed, eccentric, and anti-social, something is bound to happen. Despite their best efforts against it, a family is formed.

Merlin wakes up after a drunk night out with the knights in Sir Leon’s bed. They are both surprised by this outcome and pretend that it never happened in the first place—something that should be easy enough.
When they keep ending up in bed together after nights out drinking, it becomes harder to ignore. Merlin starts to see Leon in ways he never did before. He's reluctant to act on his new feelings since Leon is one of the king’s most loyal knights, and Merlin is a sorcerer in a kingdom where magic is still illegal. Besides, he's rather sure Leon will never return his feelings.

How long would it have taken them to notice May had moved, to notice how Peter's world was burning down around him if he didn't fuck up?
"Thanks, dude," the nickname would have gotten a scoff or some light threat in the past, but Happy only watched him. "I can make my own choices, grown man rights and all that. But A for effort, stepping in for the little guy." Peter made his words sharp, clapping sarcastically.

"Don't give a flying fuck, keep it." He threw up a peace sign, shoving his hands into his pockets again as he wandered towards Tony, unbothered. Stark was watching him with an expression that told Peter that he didn't recognize him at that moment. But Peter didn't care, they could both eat dirt. He was done with them.
