(This is a follow up to the GISHWHES fic we wrote: Love, Life and Plastic Lemons, but can be read alone. It is set about 18 months later, give or take. We're introducing a few new characters, and will be switching POV between the main ones, which for this will include Michael as well as the usual favourites. Also, Raphael is a woman and her brother 'Luke' will probably make an appearance, just because.. feels bad man.)

Summary
Dean is in love with Castiel, the celebrity from that one tv show. You know the one. He’s everything Dean aspires to be, outwardly good, kind generous, not afraid to be himself and confidently weird and comfortable in his own skin. Dean tries not to come across too obvious when he comments on things, he’s sure millions of other people love Castiel as well, but somehow, despite never actually meeting the man, Dean’s managed to fall head over heels, I don’t want anyone else but you, in love with the unattainable.
Then Dean does the unthinkable. He engages with a troll named Jimmy hell bent on tearing Castiel down from his lofty tower. Dean and Jimmy go back and forth arguing over anything and everything for several months. Dean hates the hell out of him, until suddenly, one day he realizes he doesn’t…

When Dean Winchester accepts a job at Goldenwoods Publishing, he doesn't expect to start delivering work files to the editor-in-chief. Although the exchange lasts for five years, Castiel Novak stays impersonal and distant. Dean doesn't know what to think of his mood swings, his cane, and him.
The author, Ruby Cassidy, changes everything when her demanding and perfectionist nature brings the whole team at Goldenwoods together. Dean slowly starts to spend more time with his boss, in the office and delivering files to him, and his feelings about him blossom into something much more. It all starts to unravel when he learns about Castiel's past and what has kept him in his home for the last five years.

“Do you know why you’re here Castiel?” Dean asks, his silver knife catching the light. Castiel stared at it for a moment, his eyes wide. It’s one of Dean’s favorite questions to ask. It’s interesting what people say, what they admit to. Skeletons always come out of the closet with that question.
“You’re going to kill me.” Before Dean can say anything Castiel looks up at him, blue eyes locking with green. “That’s okay.”
“It’s what?” Dean asks incredulously. That’s the first time he’s gotten this reaction. They’re usually begging by now, if not screaming.
“Just do it quickly please.” Castiel closes his eyes, one single tear rolling down his cheek.
