Summary
After a recuperative break and a couple of magical breakthroughs, Mozenrath decides that he's left his least-liked golden city alone for too long and drops by. Perhaps he'll find some useful trinkets or information. What he does not expect is to walk through the bazaar and get the feeling like a dismal trial or funeral service has just taken place. The only people who are brave enough to give Mozenrath answers are in the Royal Quarters, so up he must go. The answer he finds is a shock, even to a worldly being like himself.

Lawrence stared thoughtfully at Adam’s hand between them. He wanted to be part of that bubble Adam could understand. “You’re scared?”
Adam shut his eyes. “Yeah. Yes, I’m scared.” He squinted at the floor, searching for the right set of words. His eyes met Lawrence’s as he spoke, “I feel like I never left that bathroom.”
Blood pounded in Lawrence’s ears. This was the first time Adam had outright acknowledged what had happened between them. And yet, something clicked in the back of Lawrence’s mind. Adam was supposed to be dead. He should have faded in and out of consciousness until he could no longer stave off the hunger, or dehydration, or blood loss, and was left with nothing, not even the memory of his own name.
So what did he have now? When everything had been stripped away, but by some mistake of the universe electricity continued to flow through his body? “You died in the trap,” Lawrence finally said. “I left you to die.”
