For one long, horrible moment, Loki knew he was dead.
He just didn’t know where exactly that left him.Or, the Infinity Stones have their own agenda, and don't like being used. Loki is an exception to the rule, and is thrust back into the world of the living with a ship full of confused Asgardian refugees. He's not really sure why he's been spared, only that he's got a civilization to save and a brother to catch up to. If only he didn't have to keep making reckless bargains, and people would stop trying to pick him up.
Because being reduced to an adult trapped inside the body of a child was never one of his better plans.

Thor watched as Thanos's merciless grip around his brother's throat tightened, the life draining from Loki's eyes as the mad Titan crushed his neck; pierced his best friend’s heart, slaughtered his people and took away the only family he still had left. He watched as the flames consumed his home, reducing everything he cherished to ashes, while the Grandmaster’s ship crumbled into oblivion.
He begged the Norns for a second chance as he clung onto his once-again-brother’s cold dead body, his cries for mercy swallowed by the inferno.
He wished, and when he opened his eyes back in his room in his long-destroyed home-land, six months after Loki’s fall into the void; he knew he had to change everything. He was given a second chance, and he wouldn’t live to regret it this time.

Yamada is shocked at this question. What did they think he was? A traitor? “Of course I did.” It’s hostile in tone, raw and emotional. The interviewer gives him a pointed look of indifference that has Hizashi looking away. His tone the second time around is much more calm. “I.. I tried to stop them before they got away but the explosion.. it happened before I could reach him.”
