“I wasn’t actually going to kill you Tommy! That would be so boring, spending all that time breaking out of prison just for my favourite plaything to be gone within hours of me escaping. I’d have nothing to do!” Dream taunted.
“Well what do you want then? You want to torture me? You want to lock me up? You want to remake exile? What the fuck do you want?!” Tommy shouted. He could practically feel the smugness dripping off the man, and he couldn’t even see face.

“I could kill Dream first,” Wilbur muses. His words are the scratch of a quill-pen on old parchment, the sound of an artist plotting his symphony. “But you know what, Tommy?”
All he can feel of himself is the shaking. The rest of him has dissolved into this void. “What,” he rasps, ash thick on his tongue.
“He’d hurt the rest of them so much more if he went free,” Wilbur says, his grin yawning wider than his face. “Aw, you’re shaky breathing again. What did I say?”Tommy spends months with his brother in the afterlife. This is why he doesn't want him back.

"Welcome back to exile!" he cried out disgustingly. "You're finally home." he finished in mock bow, as if he had been awaiting Tommy's return for years, proud of him for finally seeing the light and trailing back to his rightful dwelling, as if he had not been confined by a high-security penitentiary for the last year of his very frightening existence.
The words stung Tommy like an arrow to the head. He felt the crimson damp onto his cheek as he flinched away from the sentence, despite the already gracious proximity between the two characters. Weeks of water chilled his lungs once more, the ghost of an axe against his arm, the trinitrotoluene forever stamped in his memory. Not again.

Tommy already had trouble breathing. He did not know who thought Dream escaping prison would help that fact, but he felt as though he wanted to have some very strong words with the guy.

He had walked slower, trying to delay his fate but just a few more minutes -- not even a few more hours because if he was late by anything more than ten minutes, whatever awaited him at home was even worse.
Slowly pushing the door open, he winced as the door hinges squeaked obnoxiously, announcing his return.

Summary
The routine is simple:
Tommy runs. He falls. He’s pinned to the ground. Grass or sand or stone or snow. Sometimes his mouth and nose are held beneath the surface of ankle-deep water until his vision crackles out and he inhales lake-fulls and next thing he knows he’s back home, damp with sweat and snot and tears.
Damp. Wet.
Every single chase he gets caught, and Dream toys with him for a while before finishing him off quickly, surely, with some kind of bludgeon or blade.
And every morning he wakes up back in his own bed - sometimes tucked neatly between the sheets, sometimes he’s thrashed them away, hair and clothing glued to him by a cold drying sweat, heart racing, nerves still firing with phantom pain.
He keeps having the same nightmare since he lived this in real life, since Dream got out and chased him - and he hasn’t seen the bastard since, but these daily ‘visits’ are wearing him down regardless. He’s gonna go crazy eventually. It’s a numbers game.

Tommy thought he was safe. He thought he was finally free of the monster that calls himself Dream.
But now not even the supposedly impenetrable prison can hold him and once again Tommy spends his days in fear of the man who torments him, begging for people to save him from his abuser.
And worst of all,
No one seems to believe him.
