Agatha had always been too old school for a curated social-feed folio. A binder on the table in the waiting room with her flash, new and old, and a few scattered Polaroid photos of her work. Walk-ins welcome, but often easily scared away.

    Summary

Agatha’s only human, and her eyes start to rake without her consciously realizing it. Hot Butch is pretty much a walking cliché, but is somehow making it work for them. Dark green cargo pants, big stompy boots. Green carabiner hanging from their right belt loop, jingling cheerfully against what looks like a big roll of tape in their pocket. Stupidly saturated blue polo with the Lowe’s Home Improvement logo on the sleeve.

Hot Butch angles her face in a way that Agatha can see it, and suddenly she’s frothing at the mouth even more than she was before. Round cheeks, big almond puppy-dog eyes, a nose with a slope Agatha can only describe as bitable. Hot Butch frowns vaguely and itches at a spot on their thigh; they then check their chunky analog watch and tap their foot as if the elderly man ordering a gyro in front of them is the most annoying thing they’ve encountered all day. Every inch of motion they make feels like it hits Agatha right between the thighs.

She can’t tear her eyes away. She’s so entranced that she drops half her pretzel on the ground.

“Why does this ridiculous little family have to include me? Sounds like you’re just making up reasons to be upset,” Agatha said, pursing her lips to try and keep in character, to not let her performance slip.

“Because it’s you, Agatha," Billy said, not letting go of Agtha's hands. "Because I love you and you matter to me. You matter, Agatha. You always have, that has never changed. You are the heart of this family, no matter what you pretend to be otherwise to keep us at arm’s length. Our beating, bleeding, broken heart that we need to stay alive.”

“I’m not broken,” Agatha grumbled, not hating the analogy as much as she should. “Quit writing me poetry.”

“No, Agatha, you’re not broken. But we hurt you, we broke your heart, and I won’t pretend that we didn’t. Please give us a chance, give me a chance to make this right. Just one more time. And if you hate it, I promise to never ask you again. Just one more tour.”

There’s no rule against running into someone you haven’t spoken to in ten years and realizing nothing about them has changed except their hair and the exact angle of the knife they twist in your gut.

    Agatha’s fine.

    Agatha’s not mad.

She just wants to know who the fuck decided to keep that particular bit of very fucking important information classified.
