Marshall had been acting off for the past few days, and Skye was determined to find out why.
A story where everyone seems to love the wrong pup. Skye pines after Zuma, Marshall pines after Chase, Zuma is eternally oblivious, Rocky is a protective mother hen, and there are a whole lot of misunderstandings in between.
Takes place before and during the Mighty Movie, and then canon diverges from there.

Rocky's puppyhood was filled with uncertainty and tragedy. After losing his dear mom and siblings to the pound, being the only one to escape capture, he couldn't survive on his own for too long, being rescued from the roadside by Ryder and Chase, barely still alive. Distrustful of humans, he won't let Ryder come even close to him.
So, how did he go from that scared and wary puppy to the caring and brave rescue pup we know now? What was the first step for him to trust humans again, after having only bad experiences with them up until then?

Summary
Ryder loves his pups more than anything, and they love him in return. How could they not? He's the one who took them in and gave them a home, gave them a purpose, and taught them everything they know. He takes care of them, plays with them, and makes sure they stay safe during their missions. He's so much more than just their owner, and the more the pups think about it, the more they realize that Ryder is the closest thing they have to a parent in their lives. Yes, Ryder isn't just their owner... He's their dad.
An AU where Ryder adopts and raises the pups as his kids rather than just his pets and all the found family shenanigans that come with it. Mostly fluff with a bit of angst mixed in.
