It clicks into place. They are talking to him. Jax is him.
“Why are you calling me…” he starts to say, then trails off when he realizes.
He can't remember his name.
Or, Jax loses all memories of his time in the circus.

Astarion's past is following him with quiet footsteps and hungry eyes. He wants nothing to do with it, with the responsibility, with the children he turned over to Cazador. But it is not easy to turn away, either.
“What kind of child?” Astarion hissed.There was a stirring. He felt it. The myconids conferred. They reached for his mind.
“Ash…and ember, the child,” they sang, and he saw in his mind’s eye a blurry image. A child, face smudged and fogged over with the myconid’s thoughts, their pieced together memories of it, their best reconstruction of a face when barely understood was a face was for But two features were clear. Skin like white ash. Eyes, glowing like embers.

Summary
After being abandoned by both Tav and the sunlight, Astarion makes a poorly thought out wish to Djinni and finds himself in the body of a toddler. Even though he’s (mostly) mentally sound, his new situation forces him to rely on his former traveling companions until he can find a way back to his old self. That is, assuming it’s even possible.

"No bite." It swayed slightly, attempting to maintain its balance. Its head must be quite heavy.
Astarion grabbed it under its armpits, surprisingly heavy for a creature of it's size, and lifted it from the ornate chest, placing it gingerly on the ground.
It scampered barefoot across the grimy floor with quiet plaps. Arriving at Tav—Gods, it was only as tall as her hip—it gripped the hem of her tunic. It spun around on one heel, nearly toppling over with the inertia, to address Astarion. It removed the fingers from its mouth with a horrible wet sound and took a deep breath, or what must be deep for something so tiny.

“Uh— Phil?” The man calls over his shoulder, golden eyes never leaving Tommy’s face, “I need your help over here.”
Tommy bares his teeth, wings fluttering threateningly. He doesn’t want the man to get help, he wants him to go away.
Another man steps into view. This one is short and blonde, with wings a hundred times bigger than Tommy’s, and he’s dressed just as nice as the first man. He hasn’t seen Tommy yet; he’s looking at the big pink one. Mouth open like he’s going to speak.
Tommy hisses again, louder this time. And the man's head snaps towards him— which doesn’t scare Tommy. He doesn’t shrink back, doesn’t try to tuck away his wings with a whine. Because he’s big. He’s big and scary; nothing is scarier than him and he knows it, because he says it.
“Oh,” The man says softly, expression falling at his eyes dart across Tommy’s face. “Oh, mate.”
