He turns to Mydei, letting a gentle smile curve on his lips. Mydei’s eyes narrow to slits.
“Hello there,” Phainon greets softly. He crouches down, inching closer. Mydei doesn’t budge, only tenses like a tightly coiled spring. “My name is Phainon. You’re Mydeimos, right?”
Mydei doesn’t respond, lips pressed tightly shut. Phainon’s smile wavers, chest squeezing tight.
“No one’s going to hurt you here,” he murmurs, extending his arm out. Mydei growls. Fear flashes through his eyes for a fleeting second, but it’s enough to have Phainon freezing in place, breath catching in his throat.
(A mishap at the Abyss of Fate leaves Mydei a child whose only memories are of the Sea of Souls.)

Yaksha!Yanqing AU which has been living in my head for too long (and doesn't pay rent!!) In this AU, Yanqing is a yaksha created during the great War of the Archons, but as a result of an accident he got to Xianzhou where he met Jing Yuan. Here he must learn how not to be just a weapon, but a full-fledged person with his ambitions and desires. And how a good father Jing Yuan will help him! Now Yaksha!Yanqing must learn what a family is, and also not die from alluring corruption in process! :D In fact, I just wanted to write about their father-son relationship, but it turned out that way.

“What if I just find a boy instead? They’re way easier to deal with…”
“You aren’t easy to deal with, little spitfire. And, boys can’t love other boys. That’s wrong.”
“Why?”
“That’s how it’s always been. Like how we always plant wheat in the fields, and pray to Oronyx every weekend. Why do we only worship the Time Titan?”
“I dunno…”
“It has always been that way. It’s served us well so far, so,” his dad shrugs, “Why change?”
