The demon froze. What? Impossible. Nobody he's ever met was able to register him talking or even yelling at their face. Something was wrong, something went terribly wrong, but there's nothing he could do about it. Not that he didn't absorb some of the energy that left Ryan's body at the shock, but shit, Shane hasn't planned this out to happen.
A story in which one sassy demonic entity and one innocent believer meet and happen to discover just how much they have in common.

Nick was something people might call a demon.
The kind that you conjure up with a summoning incantation and candles that flicker before orange flames burst blue, a pentagram painted on the floor (the quality usually varied depending on the artistry of the individual doing the summoning). He was the kind you made a deal with by shaking hands, grinning as he promised to grant your heart's desire—for a price.
Nick prided himself on his ability to do a good job. He'd grown to become one of the more well-known demons on Earth, and they would whisper about him even when his real name was one that mortals could barely pronounce.
He liked to watch and listen from afar, sitting on telephone poles or in a tree, leaned back against the bark. It was amusing knowing how much power he had.
He'd believed he was prepared for anything. For anyone. To grant any desire should've been easy, especially for a demon like him.
So why wasn't he prepared for this?
