One second she’d been stretching on her tiptoes, mere inches from placing a chaste kiss on his cheek (or, more likely, his beard as he was a good head and shoulders taller than her) and the next she could feel his lips, half on hers, half on her cheek, his nose brushing against the side of her own, his beard rough against her chin.
She pulled back, startled, cheeks flushing red. Oh good god, how had this happened?
In which Eliza is in Much Denial, William is a pining mess, and Ivy watches these two idiots with a mixture of fear and amusement. Some angst with a happy ending.

“The Countess Malevsky-Malevich has no room to judge." He skimmed his lips, the tip of his nose over her neck, but didn't quite kiss her again. "Besides, you'd look beautiful -" He pressed a kiss to her shoulder. "- in anything -" He scraped his teeth over her collarbone. "- even something with a collar."
