His sister laughs, and he glares, and then she clears her throat and stops laughing, but still has a small, indulgent smile. "Of course, A-Cheng," she says. "And what's this little boy's name?"
"Wei Ying," he says, and his sister's smile freezes. "His name is Wei Ying, and his parents are Zangse Sanren and Wei Changze, and something bad has happened to them. Wei Ying is alone in Yiling and he needs help," he insists.
Jiang Cheng starts again from the beginning.

Summary
Lan Zhan is just a child when he is offered as a sacrifice to The God of Death Yiling Laozu by Wen Ruohan, who was hoping to access knowledge on demonic cultivation. Little does Wen Ruohan know, Yiling Laozu isn’t the right entity to ask such things.
Moreover, Yiling Laozu is not, in fact, pleased with the offering. Taking pity on the child, he ressurects and sends Lan Zhan back up to the surface, despite not expecting him to last long during times of war.
Lan Wangji comes back to The Underworld when his time as a mortal is up. Lan Wangji, Hanguang-jun, The God’s Chosen One.

The white noise continued for several seconds, edging close to a minute. He eyed Jiang Wanyin, waiting for him to turn off the recording. The sound was so distorted that the voice of the original speaker had long since become unrecognizable.
All the others had been signals, odd blips of human activities. Warnings given with old Sunshot codes to ships that got too close to the Burial Mounds or those that were dangerously close to malfunctioning. All Lan Wangji could connect to Wei Ying.
This, however, was reaching a new level of desperation.
He reached out to end the recording. If Jiang Wanyin wished to waste his time, then so be it, but Lan Wangji had better things to do with his.

Terrible and terrifying, the Yiling Laozu stepped from the roof, the shadows eagerly reaching up to create a staircase of black. Jin Ling took a huge step back as resentment pools around them as Wei Wuxian approached. His only consolation was that he wasn't the only one freaking out. Lan Jingyi looks two seconds away from bolting, only Lan Sizhui's hand clasped around his arm keeps him from doing so.
Jiang Yanli smiled. At that moment, he thought his mother was the bravest woman alive or the craziest. She didn't even pause before shifting the tray into one arm and reaching to pinch the Yiling Laozu's sunken cheek as if the destroyer of Nightless City was nothing more than a small child. "Xianxian, if you don't hurry, the soup will get cold."
Or the Juniors fucked around and found out when they tried to solve a mystery concerning the Burial Mounds. Spoilers, don't go without a guide.

“It’s…It’s a long story…” Zizhen's voice cracks slightly, and he hunches over on himself. Jingyi moves closer, ready to catch him and likely carry him if need be. “Can….can I stay here for a few days?”
Sizhui places a hand on his back, already leading him inside. “Of course.”
As the two Lan flank either side of him, Sizhui’s voice is starting to become a little fuzzy, or most likely, his ears don’t want to hear anymore.
“Please inform Hanguang-Jun and Senior Wei of Zizhen’s arrival. Let them know he will be at my residence and to come meet us at their earliest convenience.“
Zizhen leans slightly onto Jingyi, feeling his friend put an arm around his waist to help support him. His body feels so heavy all of a sudden…
…ah…..the adrenaline is wearing off… He…he wants to take a nap now…..

Wei Wuxian being back in his own body is causing some chain reactions. Sadly, his own little student Zizhen is facing one such change.
A father who can no longer stand his son associating with a man he finds evil takes drastic actions. Now Zizhen is clanless, injured, and not sure what path to take. All he could think to do was to go to his teacher and friends....

The Yiling Patriarch is a living legend—a terrifying, ancient force of nature, dispensing punishment or reward with implacable, indifferent fairness.
Wei Wuxian, on the other hand, is a weird but oddly charming guy who wanders around the cultivation world making fun of people's art and mooching food from sect leaders.
It really upsets people to find out that they're the same person.
