In this storyline, it's up to the Sorrow Hunters — those entrusted with their research from the shadows and hidden corners between realities where time has been forgotten — to research, pen down, and document evidence of each Sorrow's existence so that future generations can always keep a watch out for them going forward.

    It's 1974 in the Kingdom of Inglenook. In the aftermath of the 'Lonum Wars from 1968 to 1972, the Royal Protector known as Captain Mytho has successfully built a super-team called the Legendeers, operating out of an observatory in the city of Freeport — watching over the Bay Area, and the cosmos above, from their hilltop headquarters overlooking it all.

    One year after their battle with Dr Synergy, which resulted in the power-bestowing Synergy Wave that tore across the city, the Legendeers have found peace and togetherness once again. However, during a picnic, a starship from the alien planet Dorriya in the Chasm of Stars crash-lands near their city — its pilot, a grey-skinned scientist resembling a living gargoyle from his homeworld, warning of the collision course his world of Dorriya's moons have suddenly been set on — a collision course heading straight for the realm of Inglenook!

    Captain Mytho and the Legendeers spring into action, and are forced to choose between Dorriya's moons — and the safety of their own home and center of operations — in this story of cosmic trouble that only the Legendeers can stop.

    Some episode listings for a series I'll probably never write called Advocate, based on some of the lore I've developed in my life and work, and for Pick-n-Mix Comix specifically, set in a region of the Chasm of Stars known as the Outer Sanctum, on the borders of known space.

    Specifically, Advocate is set in 2300s-era Braxanite space, at the edges of the Central Planets, which have been dominated first by the Galactic Prospect, then by the Braxanite Regime which replaced it and installed Braxanite immigrants and colonists all across the Central Planets.

    In this series, an enforcement vessel for the Braxanite Regime known as the GOV Advocate delves into the mostly-uncharted Outer Sanctum for the first time and meets new races unknown to the Regime, such as the Mechosians, the Foraldians, and the Ishyr. In the process, we follow the Advocate's captain, Braxanite Teben Yuroz, as well as a crew of mostly races united under the Regime — such as Byrennian medical advisor Dr Huldren, Keladon security director Chief Wuttle Mack, and stowaway-turned-pilot Dessiny Trix — as they evolve and adjust to the revelations about their own lives to be found within the Outer Sanctum.

    Am I writing poems about my own characters now? This pairing has been a hard one for me to get right, because Aetherica — the so-called bride in this poem — is so heavily based on the ephemerality and ethereality of the concept of love and spiritual ideation.

    Makes her very hard to write a story about, but apparently, easy to write a few cute little words about.

    In the world of Pick-n-Mix Comix, she's something like the embodiment of the Aether that separated the Other Realms, a spatial plane filled with aetheric mist that comes in different colors and makes you feel different things and can be summoned and controlled by spirits and sorcerers alike. I decided early on that Aetherica and Mother Mancer were going to be paired, but it's like writing about a woman in love with a god: nearly impossible, but so deeply intriguing.

    Originally one single work, Pick-n-Mix Comix is an anthology collection of shorts, vignettes, tales, guidebook entries, and a bunch of other bits and guffins surrounding the Other Realms that don't quite fit into any other ongoing or standalone purviews. Sometimes, there's original characters, sometimes, there's characters from other stories as a way to mix things up, keep things interesting, and expand on lore in ways that can't be done in their main storylines.

    So, you'll find them here. Stories and characters from Inglenook, the Freelands, Edelmund, even the Grim Grove and Grimshaw, and throughout the rest of the Other Realms too. This is Pick-n-Mix Comix.

    "My Hearse Is Dead"

    Gallo's hearse malfunctions, forcing him to rely on the services of a ghost at Common Grounds named Harvey Stoker.

  15. Mezhon runes — (Developmental/Prototype Tests) by ,

    The idea for Mezhon is taken mainly from your classic Elder Futhark series of runic inscriptions; it was designed to be a simple way for dragons in the Chasm of Stars to leave behind messages carved into the runic "dragonstones" left behind as memorials on the planets and in the realms they visited. Currently, there's 38 runes for different consonants, vowels, digraphs, and other sounds within the Dragorean language, and they can be written individually or using the "Valozian method", which is more common — inspired by Korean hangul, the Valozian method presents Mezhon runes and messages in blocks of four, representing two runes/sounds/phonemes at a time to form the full word.

    Blocks of four become blocks of four to form longer words or sentences, and because it's still fairly primitive, there's currently no way to differentiate between sentences or parts of speech, as I'm mostly testing it with basic Dragorean names and syllabic phrases, but I expdct that might change as it continues to evolve and I finalize more of what the Mezhon runes actually look like.

    This document is mostly some of my crude, first-run trial tests of some prototype Mezhon runes and what names in the Valozian method might look like.

    Working on conlang stuff for my dialect called Dragorean, which is used primarily by dragons and elder races in the Chasm of Stars; based on the naming "language" I formatted up, with a whispering phonology and 38 official letters representing various consonants, vowels, digraphs, and sounds currently, I've been expanding it into a hopefully-speakable linguistic sample, and although I'm coming at it practically rather than scientifically (I've been building workable phrases and naturalistically reverse-engineering it from there), I thought it might be fun to share some of my behind-the-scenes development notes so far.

    There's also a set of runes used to write Dragorean, which I'm developing; there will be at least 38 for each letter, collectively called Mezhon, and in the Valozian script, they're written in blocks of 4 to represent different syllables within the sentence. You'll see how it works, if I can get it drawn up along with the language itself.

    Hoping to do a workable phrasebook eventually. I seem to be developing this from the viewpoint of phrases a person learning the language might need to know first — IE, basic "I am, you are, we are" phrases — and spiralling out from there.

  19. Rudimentary Cartography of the Chasm of Stars by ,

    This'll be a work in progress for quite some time, but I decided to start mapping out rough locations of different major regions within the Chasm of Stars as a setting. It's not quite a galaxy until in-universe powers start pulling things together, but things still change and star systems change place every now and then; for the most part, though, it served as a mostly-accurate reference to the general distances and cartographical placements of everything, or at least the major worlds.

    Most of these are homeworlds, like Byrenna and Rusidra, or long-standing colonies, like Mons Platina and Karsha Orralys, and obviously, there are unique regions differentiated by location and roughly what types or worlds and events happen there (the Realm of Sin has Devolans, the prison planet of Kon Thalry on Nemessia, and the burning world of Cauldra; the Central Planets have the remnants of the Vorinthian Nation, the Braxanite Regime, Dorriya, and so on; etc).

    Oh yeah, and the Tessarium in the Astral Grotto is technically where the Other Realms are located; it's sort of a quasi-physical portal between the Chasm and the more ethereal Realms themselves, so very important to note.
