One of the petals is still in Sam’s hand. It’s soft and silky, and it looks tiny and innocuous in his palm. It’s probably fitting that someone as sick as Sam is, in his heart and in his mind and in all the ways he wants Dean, is being killed by something that sounds and looks as sweet as morning glory.
Also, it would be nice if the damn thing stuck to the mornings, but although the coughing is worse in the early mornings, the coughing is intermittent throughout the day. Sam covers his mouth when he coughs, hides the red petals in his hands, stuffing them into the pockets of his jeans, or letting them fall onto the ground if he can do so without being seen. He thinks of himself like Hansel, leaving petals instead of breadcrumbs, except, unlike Hansel he’s forever lost.

Summary
Classic trope, Winchester Drama version—Before the boys hit her with witch-killin’ bullets, the monster of the week puts a curse on Dean: either he has sex within five days, or his heart will give out. The catch? The curse was designed to make its target violent during sex, and naturally Dean refuses to put anyone’s life at risk to save his own. As the fifth day gets closer, a desperate Sam makes the choice for them both, by offering (with a little help from Castiel’s angel powers) the only person he’s willing to risk at Dean’s hands: himself. Only when it ends they’ve got bigger problems, because Sam never expected that a few nights pretending to be a stranger volunteering to take care of Dean could lead to such shocking discoveries about himself, his brother, and the strength of the bond tying their souls together.

AU after the events of Devil's Trap (1x22). John's alive and there is no deal. In October of 2007 Castiel brings a case to Sam and Dean that takes them to Pike Creek, Delaware and in all appearances seems like a case that was never fully solved when they were in town in October of 2000. They settle into the town and their cover roles easily enough, though the hunt itself is puzzling and elusive. However, Sam's edgy and secretive and Dean's not exactly thrilled to be back in the town where Sam first got it in his head to go to Stanford. At least they have the generous help of John's old Marine buddy and closest friend outside of the supernatural world—who Sam seems to have an inexplicable problem with. Dean will find, just as Sam did when he was sixteen that the supernatural aren’t the only horrifying things that stir in the coldest hours just before the dawn.Bookmarked by Potate_27

Summary
When Sam catches wind of a trio of strange murders in central Texas, the Winchesters decide to swing through on their way back to the bunker just to check it out. What initially seems like a curse turns out to be a deeper, more violent phenomenon involving not just the victims, but the entire Georgetown community - going back for more than a century. Meanwhile, emotional/physical exhaustion and previous injuries begin to take their toll on the brothers, and the nature of the case starts making certain long-buried issues and feelings harder and harder to ignore.
