I still love the way Martha writes, both the style and the manner. Very particularly that, like M R James, she tends to write to a point just short of what I find uncomfortable in horror, and stay at disturbing. Part of the "disturbing" is about mental health, stigma, and treatment, which is a powerful subject to me.
(I'd also love to see her original fic up here, even though it seems it'll never be finished).

Wow! This is a really good HDM fusion fic.
I love the whole idea of daemons as a trope, and this adds an impressively nasty bit of world-building that makes total sense of making Sherlock go through hell and making his daemon as transgressive against social norms as he is.

What might help with that stress is a little phone number (and a big credit card bill). If he can't figure out how to be bisexual in person, he can at least give it a go over the phone, right?

Sweat beads on his sternum, catching the light like jewels. His other hand is--Lan Zhan feels his eyes widen, as though unable to look away from a train wreck--on his hip, one thumb tugging down the waistband of a pair of red briefs. Wei Ying is biting his lower lip and looking directly into the camera, sultry, his eyes dark and inviting. His erection is obvious, outlined against the red of the briefs and framed carefully with the hand on his hip. Lan Zhan’s brain goes wildly, screamingly blank.

Summary
This ficlet is set in the world of Bookhobbit's Childerrell fic, "The Days of Our Years". It's a wonderful story and you should go read it immediately if you haven't already. I am completely in love with Book's characterization and with the intersection of alternative sexualities, gender identities, and disabilities that Book meshes seamlessly with the canon.
I got this idea while doing my wife's laundry and it got me thinking about feminine hygiene in the late 18th century (mostly the lack thereof), particularly how a transman who had a lot of servants in his business would cope with such a thing. I think it would be a really horrible and arduous thing to have to go through every month - unless you happened to have a Childermass on hand.
