Whoever barged in here would think it was weird, right? Koby was just a SWORD officer hitching a ride between bases. Supposed to be casual ‘how do you dos’ and ‘what are you up tos’ even though Koby generally isn’t authorized to divulge the latter. They probably don’t even realize he and Smoker know each other. Never would have guessed that Koby had wasted four days at port and turned down free space on two other battleships because he knew Smoker was coming through. There’s no reason for anyone to know how badly Koby had been aching to get his mouth in Smoker’s pants again. It’s been two months.

Summary
“I’m telling you, my friend is on his way!” a woman huffs to the bartender. The bartender gives her a long, tired look and one of her heavy boots scuffs across the wooden floor. Smoker slows, curious and slightly wary that it’s going to be a minute before he can get a drink.
The woman must hear him coming; she looks over her shoulder and blinks up at him.
“Hey babe,” she hums, then turns back to the bartender before Smoker even has a chance to process what she’s said. “He’s got my wallet. Right?” She looks up at him again, beaming as he stands next to her at the bar. She’s got freckles. And he sees, as she leans hard into the bar and her shirt threatens to become indecent, that they go all the way down her chest. Three dewy beer bottles sit on the bar in front of her.
Okay. He knows this game. She’s quick at it, though. Brave, too, to try and rope a marine in on her scheme instead of giving up on nicking a few drinks.
