Summary
Eddie was a man who liked routine, order and rules. Leaving Texas with Christopher once Shannon left was the hardest decision Eddie thought he would ever have to make. He had a support system that could help with Chris, he had his family and a routine. But when his parents started talking about keeping Chris for themselves, he knew he had to be brave for his son. He never wanted to Chris to have the childhood he had, constantly worrying about disappointing his parents and making the wrong the choices. He wanted Chris to HAVE choices. He would never say it out loud, but he wanted Chris to be able to love who he wanted without the fear of Christ being instilled on him. Eddie knew he would never have that childhood in Texas. Shannon had moved to LA years prior and even though he knew it was a long shot, he figured that if he was going to leave everything he had ever know and all the security he could ask for, he might as well follow the mother of his child. LA was the best choice of his life. It also would not be the hardest decision he would ever have to make.

“Shit.” Eddie scrambles to pick up the pages, folding them back up with shaky hands as he stands. “I’m- sorry. Sorry."
Wordlessly, Buck takes the pages from Eddie.
“Oh,” Buck says again, voice small. His face goes carefully blank as he scans the first page quickly. “I forgot about this thing.”
“Buck,” Eddie says, voice thick with emotion.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Buck says, smiling without his eyes. He’s not looking at Eddie when he laughs suddenly, stilted and awkward. “Guess I didn’t really figure it out, huh?”
