The world can be dark and bleak, but, when she stands next to Shiki, Sawa is reminded that kindness and happiness exist as well. When he is beside her, she feels like she’s floating; when he is gone, she yearns for his warm presence. For so many years, Shiki wondered about her. He kept her near and dear to his heart all this time, and it makes Sawa want to help that little girl from back then as well. She is inspired to move forward and live her life to the fullest, so that she can show that little girl that the world isn’t all darkness.
Shiki gives her meaning to her life, and, although she knows she shouldn’t allow someone to dictate her emotions, Sawa doesn’t want to disappoint him.Shiki’s feelings grow more and more each day. They grow so rapidly he can’t contain them. He needs to get it out of his system, to form them into something tangible to give to Sawa. He wants her to know how special she is, how wonderful she is. But now, he wonders if that’s too much. He wonders if he may scare her off if he’s too strong with his emotions.
Sawa and Shiki make desserts for each other for Valentine’s Day.

The curtains are closed, but, once he hears the muffled chatter from the auditorium, he lifts his head and stands on the tip of his toes to see through the small crack between the curtains. He sees countless parents and teachers interacting and finding their seats, and his chest is filled with dread. He lowers his head and closes his eyes to calm himself, but behind his eyelids he sees his father’s expression from the crowd — cold and bothered, like it was pointless to come in the first place. Like it was ‘tedious.’ And the fear encapsulating his heart prickles the walls of his chest like thorns slowly digging deeper into his flesh.
Three times Kazuma attends a graduation, and each time he learns something new.
