Anytime Nick got drunk, or even tipsy, he’d come up with things for the boyfriend contract. Things that Charlie had apparently signed off on, despite doing no such thing. In the past it included things like, taking pictures of any dogs spotted in the wild, always dancing to any ABBA song (Charlie could not understand why this was important), consulting Nick before any haircut could take place and once, after drunk Nick fell and scraped his knee, kissing all booboos better.
Most of the time they were things Charlie was already doing, and didn’t need a contract to want to do, but sometimes it was silly hypothetical things.
(Or Nick is a little high on pain medication and says some silly and fun things to Charlie)

Dad’s asleep when I enter his room, carrying his lunch. It’s not unusual, he takes naps more often now than ever before and the doctor’s had told us not to worry, it’s normal. He’s nearly a hundred years old now, I guess that’s what is expected when you’ve been alive for nearly a century.
He looks really small in the King size bed, we talked to him about maybe downsizing, but he insisted on keeping the bed he shared with Papa. I don’t blame him, really, it was hard enough getting rid of Papa’s things as it was. A lot of stuff we kept, his jumpers untouched, his older Vans piled in the small closet on top of Dad’s old Converse. Papa’s keys are still in the bowl by the door, it’d been ages since he touched them before he passed, but now it’s too difficult to move them.

Charlie could remember in great detail the moment he saw Ben kissing someone outside the gates at Truham. The utter despair and heart break that washed over him, the anger too, all of it was fresh in his mind and Ben didn’t even fucking matter. But that feeling, the ground falling out from under him, like he was untethered, was suddenly over him again. So much so, he couldn’t even manage to speak.
“Oh, you’re CHARLIE?” Someone else added. “God, Nick never shuts up about you.”
Charlene let out a giggle. “I know,” she answered, blushing and battering her eyes. “Only Nick’s allowed to call me that too. It’s our special nickname, just like I only call him Nicky."
(Or someone who is not Charlie thinks they are dating Nick Nelson. They are not.)
