Summary
A man with the ability to make people live through their worst fear manipulates Scully into experiencing Mulder's death in excruciating detail. Even though he's alive and unharmed, she's traumatized by what she saw and refuses to leave his side in fear something bad might happen to him. While Mulder's more than happy to have her so close, he's determined to find out what's bothering her.

Summary
Case fic is probably not all that good, it's more about how Mulder deals with it and how Scully tries to help him through it. More about their interactions with each other I guess and Mulder's past. So if you're only here for the case file, you'll probably be disappointed.
It does get pretty nasty at times, (though no rape scenes) but I've tried to lighten it as much as poss with Mulder and Scully's love for each other.

Painted across the barren and desolate reaches of Texas, the shadows of the Project put additional pressure on Scully and Mulder's already fragile relationship. After a hostage crisis raises more questions about the Project's breeding program, Scully begins her own investigation, leaving Mulder to choose between saving her and saving himself. Finally, the investigation leads to tragedy and Mulder and Scully find that more questions have been asked than answered.
The title reference was to an island mentioned in Medea, to which we turned for fairly obvious reasons.
Take the warning seriously: extreme violence, including the death of children.
