Summary
This is the moment when Din’s life must once again turn upside-down.
Din will again become a lone bounty hunter without a child, searches for his Tribe, and tries to find something to fill the alien baby-sized hole in his chest.
Grogu himself has been quietly watching, the most thoughtful Din's ever seen him. He perks up when he sees his father approaches him. Clawed hands reach upward and Din picks up the baby. "Hey, Kid. We found a Jedi." He says softly. "It's time to go."
Grogu's hand taps against the simulated cheekbone of his buy'ce as the two of them share a Keldabe kiss. His eyes are filling under his buy'ce and his cheeks burn. He has to say goodbye again. He has to watch Grogu be taken away, this time he knows it's for forever.
Grogu's been through too much in his life to not do this for him. He deserves to regain his use of the Force and have someone who can teach him properly. They've searched for the Jedi for two years now.
It hurts…Is he allowed to be selfish? Can he tell Skywalker no?
"There's no need to say goodbye." Skywalker breaks the tension and Din can't hide the hitch in his breath that comes through the modulator like static.
