Summary
A canon divergent AU in which Beth escapes from the car headed towards Grady Hospital. Using the skills she has learnt in the weeks following the prison's collapse, Beth must fight her way back to Daryl and her family.

Squinting her eyes open, she felt a wave of dizziness overtake her. Her eyes couldn’t quite focus in the dark, but what little she could see was blurry, like several transparent images laid on top of each other, each slightly out of alignment. It was enough to make her stomach roil, the hot burning taste of bile hitting the back of her throat.
They hit a large bump in the road and Beth’s injured wrist hit the back of the driver’s seat, sending a shooting pain up her arm. It was only then she realised she was lying across the floor in the backseat. She must have made a noise, because a man’s voice from the front was saying, “You didn’t hit her hard enough; she’s waking up.”

Hermione has literally just got her parents back and is outraged to find out that McGonagall wants the family to invite the 'ultimate dipshit' Draco Malfoy to stay with them.
But if they refuse, Malfoy is headed to Azkaban.

Beth finds herself in an increasingly volatile situation where somehow everybody knows everything is wrong and are at a loss for what to do about it. Especially Daryl. But that doesn't mean he'll stop trying.
Altera Vita roughly translates to another life.
The quote "where somehow everybody knows everything is wrong" is from a song called Iuka by The Secret Sisters. It was partially my inspiration for this fic. Along with their song Mississippi.

Summary
She looks at her sister, the only face she recognizes from this group of people who are overjoyed to see her. They all take turns hugging her, exclaiming how happy they are to see her alive. She catches a glimpse of the man hanging back by the door, the one with the grungy vest and intense stare. His face is unreadable, but his eyes misty. She locks her sight on him but when he sees no recognition on hers, he leaves.
Or: Beth survives the headshot in Grady and makes her way to Alexandria, with no memory of the past two years.
A Bethyl memory loss fic with Daryl figuring out his feelings as Beth gains her memory of who she is and who she's become, and who Daryl is to her.
