Modern AU, ensemble cast, trying to be authentic but might need some help. Title from the National Geographic "9/11 Commemorative Collection" documentary series episode two, "9/11: Zero Hour". Rated for violence, gore, imagery, and sexual situations. I appreciate any feedback!

Summary
Stress levels were through the roof. By July 16, Steve had snapped at no less than three people, and Bucky was glaring so murderously at the wall of his room that Sam was beginning to fear for not only the wall, but the three feet of rock behind it, and the city beyond that. They were on a hair-trigger; Sam could have cut the tension, but it would have taken a jackhammer and a stick of dynamite, and there was no guarantee that it would have done the job. There was no relief for it.
It seemed that an explosion of epic proportions was all too imminent.
And then Wanda suggested they watch Casablanca for movie night.

“Sorry,” Jason says. He thumbs the strap of his brand-new kindergarten backpack. (It’s a very impressive Thomas the Tank Engine kind. Willis swiped it from a thrift store during the summer. Jason’s never had anything this nice before, so he’s been taking extra care not to get it torn or dirty.) “Just—I’m home from school. You said you’d wait for me at the bus stop.”
Catherine’s brow wrinkles before her eyes widen in recognition. She presses a palm to her forehead. “Right, right. I’m so sorry, Jay. I must’ve forgot to set an alarm.”
“It’s okay,” Jason says. “Davey’s mom let me walk with them.” He looks around the cramped bedroom, smothered with dirty laundry and empty potato chip bags. “Did you get out of bed today?”
Catherine smiles tiredly. “Oh, yeah. I was up and about earlier. I’m just taking a little nap.” Jason knows he’s lying, but he doesn’t mention it. That’s not part of it. She sits up, her skin ghostly pale with dark circles dragging like anchors beneath her eyes. “Can you get Mommy’s medicine, baby?” She points him over to the dresser across the room. “Top drawer—you remember where it is.”

Summary
Bruce’s first instinct is to check for open wounds. Then he makes sure that Tim is breathing and that he was not correct in his mistaking Tim for a corpse. He seems fine, relatively speaking. The bowl of ice cream and expensive bottle of rum on the countertop evoke many questions.
Bruce shakes Tim’s shoulder. “Tim?” Tim makes a sound that is not quite a word, so much as several vowels carelessly strung together. “Son? Are you alive?”
Tim groans, not lifting his head. “No.”
Bruce eyes the bottle of rum. It’s several ounces short. “Either my calendar is a day off, or yours is.”
