Sure, it’s a thirty foot deep-sea fish man that tried to crush their deep-sea explorer robot, but it’s still a person! One that has a shapely head with deep blue eyes sitting on top of a broad torso from which another tiny man (only a foot long) sprouts. They might be a two headed creature. They might be anything. The deep sea just gifted them a hot merman and Brenner wants to dissect them?
“They can’t do this,” Steve says. There’s an intolerable itch under his skin. He can’t. He can’t just let these creatures be killed. “They could be useful. They could. They could… They… they could be guides! They could show us where all the best spots are! We’re going to get so many customers who want to see a deep sea merman.”
Jonathan looks skeptically at Steve then at his broken camera.

Instead he got, "Then I'll stick around. See you later Stevie." And he went to sit at a table in the corner. Robin looked between them suspiciously, but didn't ask. She already knew.
Two months after they defeated Vecna, Steve and his mismatched family are all recovering and getting back to their lives. Steve and Robin lost their jobs at Family Video after ditching during Spring Break, one of the busiest times of year for Family Video, so they found another job to share–bartending. It was classier than selling and renting Movies, at least. Steve could say he actually enjoyed this job–until Tommy Hagan showed up, recognized him, and then asked to talk to Steve after his shift.
Steve loves his boyfriends, but he loved Tommy first.
