Summary
As an intelligent and accomplished wizard, there are lots of things that Gale knows for certain, especially about himself. One fact is that he has an inclination toward being aroused by dangerous situations. Another is that Gale can't get pregnant from his current partner. These facts offer a certain freedom to Gale and Astarion's relationship, and one that they have been indulging in frequently. With great enthusiasm.
Until suddenly, Gale is faced with the knowledge that maybe they didn't know as much as he thought they did.
OR: What happens when a pair of hapless idiots indulge in some rough sex after slaying a lich, only to realize hours later that they really should have been using protection all this time. Because now Gale is in labor in the middle of nowhere, and all they have to guide them through the process is a book on breeding goats.

Summary
Gale had desperately clasped Astarion's wrist, preventing him from fully wrenching away. From fleeing. And for a brief moment Astarion was ready to lash out with all of the feral fury a starving spawn had to offer.
The memory of that scorching touch was like a scar. The imprint of his lightly calloused, bare palm on Astarion's slender wrist was an invisible, white-hot brand upon his flesh. It was only Gale's wide, worried eyes and immediate surrender of Astarion's captured limb that saved him from being torn to ribbons by long-forgotten vampiric claws.
He loathed it. Touching and being touched.
People did not touch Astarion and survive.
Astarion did not touch people destined to live.

Astarion has a complicated relationship with physical touch. It brings up a wellspring of memories best left forgotten, and he doesn't even know if he could enjoy it anymore should he ever let anyone close enough to try... or five times Astarion sees Gale being held and has a lot of difficult feelings about it + the one time he does it himself and knows exactly how he feels about it.
