Summary
Owen Grady has always felt more connected to animals than to people. He capitalized on this connection in the Navy to train dogs and dolphins, and he uses it when Simon Masrani calls him to ask if he wants a job. Velociraptors can't be so different from all the other animals he's worked with, right?
Then the first egg hatches.
He watches as sharp claws pierce the outer shell of the egg, slowly tearing open the material. The animal moves slowly. She’s just a baby, he knows, so her muscles aren’t at their best, but even now he’s sure those claws could rip out his throat with no effort. A yellow eye peers out from the gap in the egg. Owen stares back at it, unblinking. He smiles as a noise comes from the egg, a raspy chirp that makes an inhuman sound of his own bubble up his throat before he can push it back down.

Owen Grady was many things: a soldier, an antisocial person, and someone who preferred animals to people. Most importantly, he was someone who was fascinated by dinosaurs and had nothing left to lose, which is why he accepted the suicidal offer to become the Raptor Trainer. After all, it couldn't be that difficult, especially with his ability to hear the animals in his mind. What he didn't expect was to become his own experiment. Little by little, he was becoming a Raptor and would soon be able to switch between two forms. But deep down, that didn't matter to him. His pack was his family, and Blue was the only one who made his heart beat faster than a war drum. But when everything he knew starts to change, Owen discovers that having the heart of a Raptor isn't enough to save his family. He needs to be a Raptor and choose between the two worlds he lives in: Human and Dinosaur. But maybe that's an easier decision than he imagines.

Harry had been tired after the war. The nightmares were constant, loud noises reminded him of Hogwarts blowing up, of him losing his family and close friends to the war that surrounded him since he had been born. So he escaped England and went to Romania to stay with Charlie Weasley. But while he was there, Harry saw something that no one else seemed to want to see. A bond between animal and handler. The dragons, while spitfires, respected their handlers enough to know they didn't mean them any real harm. They had mutual respect, but no one wanted to see it. For once, Harry's mind tore away from the war and went knee-deep into another subject. Animals, and how even the most dangerous ones can form a bond with a human. He had been studying animal behavior and medicine for a couple of years when the news reached his ears about an opening in a whole new world. A dinosaur park, and with Charlie pushing him to go on vacation. Harry did just that, he hadn't been expecting the job offer one where Harry just knew he would fit right in.
