While they were almost super-human, their Guides were most definitively not. Bangtan burned through Guides like cigarettes. No one ever lasted longer than a year, before becoming sickly ill and passing away soon after.
Cadet Jeon Jungkook is the exception.

It’s strange to hear Jeno say his name, to clock that they both know each other’s without having to ask. It makes Jeno feel less like a figure from a dream, and more like another person dreaming at the same time as him. Like he’s accidentally crossed into the life of this man from Seoul, with his silk sheets and glowing city and heavy, heavy choice to make.
“I wish I could help you,” he says, though he’s not sure why. Jeno lifts his head then, to look at him, really look at him.
There’s a moment where he can see Jeno come to the same realisation as him. That, maybe, this encounter is something that shouldn’t feel so natural.
