Summary
Hello, this is one of my first real attempts at writing a book so I'd like you to bear with me. I don't know where I'd like the story to go, I kinda just wanted to use this as writing practice. Deeply scarred by the loss of his 12 year old daughter, Joel has deliberately distanced himself from anything involving children for the past 17 years. This initially included the 8 year old foster kid who moved in down the street. Despite his resistance and attempt to stay detached, over the past year, he’s found himself drawn into the girl's life, eventually revealing the abuse she's been enduring at the hands of her foster father.

You can't have heard him right. That has to be wishful thinking on your part. Right? Right?
In which Connor asks you a personal question, as he does, you infodump in response, and experience two miracles in the same day.This is aimed at other autistic people. I wrote this in the hopes of giving myself catharsis and am sharing it on the grounds that other autistic people may find it cathartic too. Is now the first chapter of Basic Decency.
Sole Machine Connor POV in Chapter Two. It is not nearly this affirming.
