The man towers over him, his breath tasting of coldness and fury. Harry had always known that there had to have been a significant reason, why the hat had sorted him into Gryffindor over any other House. He finds, once more, that inexplicable urge to do something recklessly, utterly stupid. High from the power he so rarely wields when confronted with this man, he taunts, “Come on, Tom. Let’s finish this the way we started!” He grips the older wizard close, sees the belated outrage.
This, certainly, qualifies as reckless stupidity.
But, he thinks, it might also just be strikingly poetic. “Together!” He shouts and jumps off the building.

Tom was forced by now to hide her irrefutably widening smile behind a propped-up hand. And Harry counted that as a personal success. For a moment, with Ron grinning widely and Tom doing so too, if reluctantly, she felt very warm inside. Harry really liked how it felt to have made Tom smile. And Hermione didn't look too offended, either.
Unfortunately, Tom would be sorted into Slytherin House mere hours later and that set an abrupt end to Ron's willingness to side with her.
Worse even, Harry noticed that the smiles Tom wore after the sorting, were no longer as beautiful; didn't make Harry feel as warm anymore. So, Harry set herself the goal to make Tom smile the way she had that first meeting, as often as she could.Or, alternatively:

‘Harry Potter.’ A soft sibilant voice in his mind, tugging on his thoughts, halting them. It is more a press of another mind against his, more a feeling, rather than something he physically hears. He knows this voice.Or, Harry Potter is being stupid and goes to Diagon Alley, even though he is not supposed to and Voldemort picks him up. Severus Snape is there to save the day.
