Summary
When a delegation arrives to finally achieve peace between Camelot and Essetir, Merlin is thrown by the sight of his ex, who he hasn’t seen since he left for Camelot eleven years ago. Lord Parajh is determined to either win Merlin back, or at least flatter him to death.
Merlin has mixed feelings about the sudden, very public affection he receives from his old love. Arthur is furious and madly jealous—maybe jealous enough to finally make his move.

Summary
Arthur watched, unable to fully comprehend the events that had seemingly just crashed and burned in front of him rather than calmly unfold. He turned to look at the other knights who only shrugged as Mordred sank lower into his seat, lips pressed into a pout as he picked at his food.
“I…” He started and paused, taking a moment to gather his thoughts “Why do you want Merlin to like you so badly?” He finally sighed. Mordred stopped playing with his food, glancing up before looking at the door the servant in question had exited through
“Because he’s Merlin.” He said as if that provided any sort of answer.
Arthur didn’t deserve this. He did his best to be a good person. Maybe this was some kind of divine intervention saying he needed to up his charity game. He needed to give the lower town a bigger tax break or something. Perhaps ride out and save three more damsels than usual.
"He has a point," Gwaine piped up as he inhaled another mead "He is Merlin."

When Arthur is captured in another plot to overthrow Camelot and kept in a place barred to any except the most powerful of sorcerers, he faces his certain demise with grim determination. Though he doesn't know it, there is only one person who may yet be able to save him.

Gaius immediately assumed the worst, but it was an easy mistake to make. The grim expression on Merlin’s face as he stalked into the infirmary did not particularly shout ‘success.’ Neither did the way he flung his pack and jacket in the general direction of his bed without bothering to actually enter his bedroom, then spun on his heel and went straight to the storage shelves, glowering at the jars and bottles as if daring one or more of them to make a hostile move. They didn’t, and he cursed, not quite under his breath.The old man flinched. “Merlin…” he started. “What happened?”
“Oh, you know,” said Merlin over his shoulder, with a sarcastic flip of a hand. “Same old, same old. Woke up, had breakfast, summoned a goddess; nothing worth mentioning.”

“I told you my biggest secret. I didn’t ask for a thank you for what I’ve done or thought you’d run into my arms with complete trust, I just wanted to live in Camelot and stay as your manservant if I had any luck.” he says, on the verge of tears, speaking the last words softer, “Instead you threatened to kill me. Exiled me.”
Two almost perfect tears fall onto Arthur’s cheeks by the time he’s done, the king not even making an attempt to hide or wipe them away. Merlin hates the part of him that breaks at the sight, hates himself for being unable to guard his heart well enough for it to remain silent and allow his head to speak.
“I thought we were friends,” Merlin says, barely registering the tears falling from his eyes, “I thought I deserved a little more than that."

Summary
But he had to, he had to, whatever they said of his father and whatever shame he felt in so marring his legacy. The deaths could not continue. Magic was not so rare as the nobility wanted to believe. At least a third of Camelot’s population were sorcerers, or had the capability to become so, an absurd number for a kingdom that steadily lost such kinds to execution and magical attacks. It was as though magic was being called here, centered in his kingdom, and he could not fight it any longer.
The Disir had given him a choice, and he stood by his answer. He’d gone in alone before them and left with a new vow.
Magic would be free, and Arthur would honor its gods.

Morgana wasn’t wearing a collar, but her handcuffs glowed orange a few seconds after Merlin’s cooled, and her jaw clenched against the torment. Still, she kept her eyes on him. Vigilant.
“They’re magic siphoning cuffs,” she said when it was over. Her lip quivered as though she was suffering a kind of aftershock, but then her composure returned. She lifted a brow, shooting him a sinister look. “I see they’ve done a number on you, Emrys."
Merlin’s stomach dropped. Morgana knew.
