Stede had that look again. He was going to cry. “I haven't been in my fair share of scraps. First one, actually. Unless you count my father, but… I never fought back. Not once. I've never had to fight for my life before. Didn't do very well, by the way. I don't know if you can tell, but I kind of lost.” Stede sniffled, his eyes welling up with tears.
Izzy would never understand why, but in that moment he felt the need to make this whole situation a little more bearable for the other man. It wasn't Stede’s fault Ed chose him, and while a part of him still resented him, he didn't think it would be completely fair to be a dick to him while he was so vulnerable. Izzy took Stede's hand he just cleaned up and looked at it. “I dunno, looks like you got a good punch in there. Not bad for your first scrap. Nobody wins every fight.”
Stede choked back a sob, a tear sliding down his face. “I don't want to be alone right now.”
TL;DR
The fic where Izzy is very sick and just about over life when his ex-husband's boyfriend shows up at his doorstep, beaten, broken, and scared after being attacked outside of a bar. Ed is out of town and Izzy has no other option but to take in the man who took everything from him.

Selkie. The word sounds like a bell’s chime in his head, and Lucius knows.
He’s heard the stories, the legends of seal women from the north that folks told back home. He’d never taken them for truth, not once—not even when Jenkins came back to town from the sea with a dark-eyed new wife in tow and the whispers had swirled throughout the autumn of the reticent new bride and how she lingered at the edge of town some nights, staring back towards the coast.
Slowly, Lucius’s mind catches up and he processes what the selkie first said.
“There’s a selkie on the ship?”~~~
The only reason Lucius survives when Edward throws him off the Revenge is the selkies who pull him back to the surface of the water and give him time to breathe. They bring him back to the ship with one piece of information: one of ours is on board.

"And assuming an empty cartridge doesn't wound as badly as a bullet would."
"Well, yes."
"And assuming the blood dilutes the poison enough to not immediately fucking murder me when it hits my skin."
Roach's face had done a complicated wiggle, somehow managing to smile and frown all at once. "Theoretically," he'd said.
"What do you think?" Izzy'd asked, swiveling his eyes to Jim.
They steadied their breathing. "Viejo," Jim had said, meeting Izzy's tired eyes, "I will bury you today, but not for the last time."

Season 2 from Izzy’s point of view, with alternative, happier ending.
Because yeah, the Blackbeard folie à deux was fucked up, but there’s no reason why they can’t both move on from it: no-one needs to die, completing a character arc doesn’t mean killing someone as soon as they find respite and joy, and Izzy is, after all, an indestructible little fucker (as well as a sentimental bastard and most of the other things he’s been called.)
Shipping Izzy and Frenchie came as a surprise to me, but it's where the story went and it seems to work.

He doesn't actually have anything but the clothes on his back and he's about an hour away from either starving or freezing to death and, seeing as it was his boyfriend who left him on the streets because he was too messed-up to bother with, that's probably just fine.
Finding a guy almost dead in an alley is NOT fine in Darcy's book, especially when that guy is a freaking veteran and the freaking nicest guy ever and when he was abandoned by his freaking asshole boyfriend. Nope, not fine at all. Jane is going to lecture her so hard about how this guy isn't a puppy, he's a strange man who might shank her...but those baby blues are the sweetest puppy-dog eyes Darcy has ever seen, so yeah, she's bringing this guy home, throwing him in her tub to warm him up, feeding him, and snuggling him for days. And if he needs her to give him a sponge bath or share body heat or tase his ex or...well, just about anything...yeah, that is TOTALLY fine.
