"It’s okay, though, because Sissel knows Yomiel would never take up residence somewhere that didn’t have a phone. The phone is a family favorite, albeit for varying reasons. Yomiel seems to like it for its more human functions, such as speaking into it, or sitting limp and cold beside it for hours at a time. Sissel likes it because the cord is fun and bouncy."
Sissel’s roommate takes up a lot of strange residences. Sissel thinks it’s kind of weird, but he’s sure to make every new place they stay feel a bit more like home.

"I mean- Nevermind. Don't worry about it, pal. I've just been having a hard time keeping up with the electricity bill, and the February chill is in the air, so. It's fine.”
"What?! No." Phoenix shook his head. "God, Gumshoe, I'd have to be some kind of monster to say no to you after that.
Gumshoe spends the night at Phoenix's during the Skye investigation. It's more nerve-wracking than he expected it to be.

It was a month and half after at 2:38 PM when Phoenix got the call.
He can't even begin to comprehend the words. What? Why? How? When? Why? Why? Why? This isn't fair, why him–
Phoenix flinched, brought back to reality by this uncomfortable liquid of ink pouring out over his hands. He hadn't even realized he was holding the pen so hard that it had started to crack and break under his grip.
He let out a half-choked gasp, picking up his phone. "I-I'll call you back, detective."
But Gumshoe's phone never rang again that day.
________Edgeworth learns what it means to soar and heal while Phoenix sinks deeper in his own emotions.

Here they are again, caught in an argument neither can win because it’s too messy, too impervious; and Phoenix is tired of running in circles, of running and stopping right before a wall so that he doesn’t crash into it. He doesn’t want to try keeping up, it’s too much, it has been too much over those days and months and he can’t continue doing it, not anymore.
