“I don’t think it’s safe to throw rocks from glass houses.”
“I have a suit of literal armor and I can fly.” Full rant now.
“But you are still a squishy human on the inside. Run more drills and learn to delegate, Tony.”

Summary
Months after the Avengers' dispute in Germany, the team returns to the US and moves back into the tower. As always, everyone pretends that nothing happened. Tony is just fine with this. He's used to pretending, and he'll be damned if he lets any of them see him flinch.
Tony's the bad guy, after all. He's used to it. He's fine with it. He's good at it.
Only now, there's something far worse loitering around the tower - The Winter Soldier. No one notices the guy at first, but when they do, Tony figures that he should have the soldier's back.
Birds of a feather should flock together, and the bad guys should start a book club.

Summary
Regency AU in which Mycroft Holmes has given up a promising military career to take up his duties as eldest son and heir of the late Earl of Halsbury and in which his younger brother's world has suffered serious damage from the family tragedy.
However, appearances must be upheld, an elegant façade must be maintained and scandals must be avoided at all cost. A convenient marriage to the lovely Lady Harcourt therefore seems a logical choice, but the appearance of a handsome Bow Street Runner makes Mycroft wonder whether he should listen to logic when life offers him what he has always wanted.
But how can one combine 'sense and sensibility' in a world where a man must not love another man, and where a woman has little to no rights without a man's approval?
AUTHOR'S NOTE, October 2025: I never intended to pull a GRRM but it's turned out I can't get back into this story.
