“Micchan has others,” Taikogane muttered, “he doesn’t need me. No one does.” He got up, going to the edge of the roof. He turned, sending a sad smile at Tsurumaru, then he jumped down, landing gracefully on the ground before walking back to the honmaru.
That didn’t turn out how Tsurumaru planned but it was more information than they’d previously had.
“Sada-bou not feeling loved,” he muttered, “now that is surprising.”

Sanjou Munechika's masterpiece was forged in summer, no matter how he wanted steel born amongst cherry blossoms. “When you’re old, sometimes you find yourself unable to do things when you want to.”
In this (un)fortunate case, Mikazuki Munechika was created.
Following Mikazuki's forge to the inevitable end of his first master, plus or minus a world of humans not entirely understanding what tsukumogami, youkai, and other creatures live amongst them. Fabricated historical fact and liberties taken, with a hefty leaning-upon when it comes to the lore of the Heian period.

Summary
While Mitsutada does remember certain things, he doesn’t remember the most important ones—namely the real connection he has to both Tsurumaru and Ookurikara. Said blades’ mutual agreement to leave well enough alone and simply be happy that they have Mitsutada with them under the same roof doesn’t mean they aren’t feeling the pain.
Taikogane’s arrival doesn’t exactly help either--or maybe it was the push they all needed.
