Marlowe sighed deeply. Might as well come out and say it.
“There’s a warehouse down in the Dock Ward. Near Presper and Six Casks. Got peeling black paint on the doorframe and nothin’ else as far as colors go. You with me so far?”
“Go on.”
“There’s some cargo in there. People. Gonna be sold to some drow and sent down to Menzoberranzan at around midnight if no one does something.”
The reality of it sounded so much worse in plain language, without thieves’ cant clouding the meaning.
Rhylan nodded, his brow furrowed in concern.
“Does the City Watch know about this?”
Marlowe looked away. After a moment he answered, “The City Watch and I aren’t on the best of terms.”
“I see.”A well-meaning rogue with an alcohol problem tries to have some people rescued from trafficking and accidentally falls in love with a paladin. Unfortunately, the Zhentarim aren't keen on having their cargo taken.

Summary
Salim Othman is a hardened Police lieutenant who's fallen from faith and glory into a deep depression, turning to his bottles to cope after his son was taken from him. Years later he's put on a series of cases to investigate why androids around Detroit are deviating and revolting against their owners. He hasn't had much luck solving them. But everything changes the day he's assigned an android partner.
Jason, or JK800, is a new model line, state of the art detective and protection android who's experiencing a series of glitches and instabilities ever since one faithful day near the Canadian border. He's sent to Detroit to work together with a hardened police lieutenant, there's only two problems, the lieutenant doesn't want him there and for Jason, the clock is ticking.
Together, they have to learn to cooperate and thrive, or will they fall further into despair?
