Ashlyn is stranded with Aiden for ten days on a mandatory field trip for the student leadership club they joined at the start of the year. It's nothing short of a suicide mission, but Aiden's parents are forcing him to go; and Ashlyn tags along with the sole objective to get them both back alive.

Somehow, as if the gods had decided to reward him for all his struggles, the woman's gaze landed on him and Rain, and stayed. For once, Sunny thought there was a future outside the outskirts, one where he and his sister could enjoy food and warmth.
Yet, fate seemed to have other plans.
The woman left, promising to return soon, but never came back. Eventually, Sunny was kicked out, with only the respite being that Rain found a family that could take care of her. Just when he thinks it can't get any worse, he starts finding it hard to stay awake.. With nothing left to lose, Sunny resolves to do the one thing he knows he can do. Survive.

These brutal murders force him to partner with the infamous government worker, Ascended Soul Reaper, while also sending Sunless down a rabbit hole. And the deeper he goes, the more he starts to consider whether or not this is a mystery he wants to solve.
