But that’s the thing. It’s only been a week in person, but the weird behavior has been happening for a few weeks before then. Harry would text him when he could while in Japan, and Louis would take long to answer. He’d make the same excuse about being in the studio, but Harry hasn’t known Louis to be there as frequently as he claimed.

The list of reasons why he shouldn’t be doing this is probably at least double that, but here he most definitely is. He’s sitting on his bed, legs straight out in front of him, back propped up against the headboard and some fluffed-up pillows and his MacBook is resting on his thighs. His jittery fingers drum lightly on the edge of the keyboard as he stares at the tiny digital clock in the top right-hand corner of the screen, willing the seconds to tick by faster. He wants to get into this and get it over with in equal measures.

Technically, that wasn’t the strict truth, as Evie had already been five years old by the time she came to stay in their crowded (but loving) home. And technically they didn’t steal her.
Either way, the last Christmas with the seven of them in that broken old house on Redwood all together was probably one of the most memorable holidays each of them had, what with the wedding and the the snowstorm and the raccoons in their attic…

Michael's still alive, but his health bar is basically empty. He doesn't have much longer before he's gone. "So I have to stay alive now?" Harry asks.
All of his brothers in the hall shout "Yes" at once. And then Michael's icon turns grey in the corner.
Liam yells, "Get back to base!" And Harry starts running.
He doesn't even make it five steps when The Rogue steps in front of him and decapitates him before Harry realizes what's happening. The moment he hits the ground, a tinny voice is ringing out, "Rest in fucking peace, prick," and Harry's eyes widen in shock.
He turns to Niall, jaw dropped and asks in bewilderment, "Did you hear that?"
"Don't fucking talk to me, Haz," Niall snaps. He stand ups and approaches the door to his room. "All you had to do was stay on the base."

The first Harry that Louis met was at his third school in as many years, and had shoved Louis’ head into the toilet when he walked into the mens restroom. Some slurs had been used, but the whole incident was kind of blurry thanks to the concussion he got when his head hit the tile floor.
The second Harry was a TSA agent when Louis was sixteen, returning from a trip abroad. The agent had smirked at Louis passport. “Layla, huh? Should think about dressing a little more feminine, no guy is gonna want you looking like that.”
Louis doesn’t want to see if “third time’s the charm” applies here. He’s finally secure in his life and happy, and he doesn’t want the heartbreak if his soulmate is just another bigot that wanted Layla and not Louis. Sue him for avoiding the pain.

Feeling playful, Harry feigns thinking before saying, “I suppose my favorite color is blue.”
Louis hums. He's smiling. “That's the color of my eyes.”
