It almost looks like Timber Hearth, but you know the Nomai prefer to build primarily with stone, and you know that your fellow Hearthians had only just begun exploring out into space.
This is what you're doing on your first flight, you suppose. You're here. Alone. On a strange space ship (?). Stranded. With your ship in pieces.
Stars above, Slate is going to kill you when you get back.

Just a seriously seriously good depiction of Chert. I really think this is as close to their motivations and attitude as you can get
Also "Chert, tirelessly pursuing the light of recognition, while Riebeck tries desperately to hide in the tranquil shadows of anonymity." Really got me I'm really into the idea that Chert wants recognition for what they do and I think what makes it so interesting is that in the end, they really don't get much recognition- they're the only person out there who's really doing any work yet they never get talked about any different from any of the other travelers and they never get the kind of attention that the other characters, like the founders and specifically Feldspar get and I think that's cool and sad and I like the way this brings all that up in my mind while simultaneously giving really good characterization to Riebeck and Chert. -

And that scene with them and solanum in chapter 27 is just so sad and so perfect and I love them so much30- Newest chapter ABSOLUTELY FUCKS I love porphy so so much and Feldspar is just written incredibly the whole scene at the campfire is just so hard to watch and it's perfect and porphy's feelings about gossan and Feldspar's relationship is just incredible I can't handle it and every character in this chapter is so on point I forgot how well written every single character is but theyre all peak I love them
I seriously just love this fic so much
31- I love Hornfels so muchhhhh their whole conversation with porphy and esker is just oh my god and I love how worried they are about chert (and I can't get over the fact that they turned off their radio because of feldspar but they still don't know that it really was them and they're really still alive and they really just hung up on them) and I still can't handle how perfect feldspar is in this I love them
