The challenge whets Flins’s appetite. He isn’t the kind of fae who exults in games of chance but rather ones of wit and strategy, and he was fond of collecting intelligent men like glittering baubles at the Belyi Tsar’s court. “If I am to handicap myself, then I should receive a greater reward if I win, don’t you think?” he asks, the words out of his mouth before he can help them, for he, like all fae, loves a bargain.
When a bad storm strands Varka at Flins's lighthouse, the two play chess to pass the time. After beating Varka twice, Flins agrees to play with a blindfold, provided the loser owe the winner a boon.

He has no idea how the unidentifiable something between him and Jack Sparrow - James isn’t going to call it hate and he sure as hell isn’t going to call it rivalry and there’s, frankly speaking, no good word in the languages he knows that would describe his feeling towards the Captain in all their complexity of disgust, annoyance and maybe the smallest trace of admiration over the stories James used to hear about - shifted into something just as unidentifiable and yet remarkably different. James had only been in the Caribbean a few months before he found the Three Ducks, the closest Nassau had to a molly house; he hadn’t been expecting much, but then he met Jack.
Jack hadn’t intended to get involved with a British sailor, much less one who was very probably Navy; but James was an utter delight, both in and out of bed.
They established rules early on: no surnames, no identifiable details. Blissful ignorance and all. But they both knew deep down that the rules were really more like guidelines anyway.
Or: me wondering what CotBP would be like if Jack and James already had an established relationship.

One six hour rehearsal has tensions higher than ever, leaving them all, sans Jinu, slumped against dead trees and gulping down only somewhat clean water. Jinu has been tense the past few weeks, unhappy with the lack of progress. Romance gets it but after the day they’ve all had, he’s not feeling very sympathetic.
Baby all but downs all of his water in under thirty seconds before pulling it out of his mouth with a pop and announcing to the other three of them, “I’m going to kill him.”
Romance groans, head tipping back. “Don’t kill him. He’ll take months to regenerate. Then all our work will have been for nothing.”
“I’m thinking about it.” Baby glares down at his water bottle like it has personally offended him. “If I hear him say we need to put more heart into it one more time, I might not be able to stop myself.”
(Or Jinu needs to teach four demons how to sing and dance like professionals, both before the Idol Awards and ensure they get Gwi-Ma’s support in the process. A look into how that might’ve gone.)
