When the provost marshal looks at her, looks down at his paper, looks back at her, and grimaces, Sakura knows it’s not going to be good.

At least while you were both away from your real lives, he could pretend. Just for a while, he could give you a life that could have been. Only for a moment.

Suguru listened, waiting. His pursuit was a game of patience and you chased after the gamble.
