Buck’s not entirely sure of everything that happens next; one second he’s bent over with laughter, clutching his stomach, and the next they’re on the floor, flinging whatever handfuls of flour they can scoop up while they wrestle around. He’s pretty sure he’s caked in flour, can feel the sting in his eyes, the grit on his skin, tastes it on his tongue as he tries to pin Eddie’s arms behind him. They’re both breathless with laughter, scrambling around on the kitchen floor, shouting half-protests and playful curses, and it’s not until Eddie has Buck pinned, his entire body stretched out on top of him, that Buck stops fighting it.

He wasn’t surprised though, that right after quarantine, Buck wanted to do get a tattoo. If anything, he was surprised it took him a week to do so. Still, when Buck told him what he was going to get tattooed, his heart melted.

“I think it’ll look good,” Eddie reassured, buttoning up his uniform, his heart going a mile a minute.

Summary
They're friends, that's all there is to it.

Once they're all in agreement, Ana goes to the bathroom to clean up a bit and Buck holds Eddie close, cradling the back of his head.
This is one of Eddie’s favorite parts; the few minutes right before they start when it’s just the two of them and they’re holding each other. He feels closest to Buck like this. Eddie melts into it every time without fail.
Buck keeps a hand on the back of Eddie’s head, pulling back just enough so that Eddie can hear him say: "Go to the bedroom. Take off your shirt and nothing else; I want you to kneel next to the bed until she tells you what to do. I'll be in right after you."

When he pulls back, he’s holding a brown suede cowboy hat. It’s soft and worn, something abuelo had gotten him in high school when he’d taken him to his first rodeo. Those are some of his fondest memories of his grandfather. He hasn’t seen the hat in years—probably since the move to LA. There’s never been an occasion to break it out here, so it’d gotten lost in the depths of his closet.
